Bellarmine Studies, based in North San Diego County, California, offers courses to Elementary, Middle School, and High School home school students online, in the classroom, and privately in your own home.
The Mission of Bellarmine Studies is to instill in today’s children - tomorrow’s leaders - invaluable knowledge and understanding of authentic Church history, Traditional Catechism, and Latin - the transformative language of Western Civilization, law, government, logic, and theology.
Bellarmine Studies' patron is Saint Robert Bellarmine, Doctor of the Church, Papal Inquisitor, Hammer of Heretics, and Patron Saint of Catholic Teachers.
This systematic study of Latin grammar is designed to serve either as an introduction to the language or to follow and expand upon the first year material covered in elementary grades.
An overview of the great events, noteworthy achievements, and major characters of human history, from the beginnings of the first civilizations to the Middle Ages and beyond.
Emphasis on Divine Revelation, Salvation History, Grace and the Moral Life, with special attention to Living the Virtues and Sacraments as the necessary means to receive and grow in grace..
This systematic study of Latin grammar is designed to follow and expand upon material covered in middle school level Latin courses.
This course will survey the history of the Catholic Church by focusing on specific events, developments, and personages of note within the context of the early and medieval Church.
Firmly grounded upon the Church's traditional teaching on scriptural interpretation, the course presents a survey of Salvation History as recorded in the Old and New Testaments.
FAITH
"Faith is necessary to believe that the oracles of God's scriptures are true.
Faith is the beginning of a Christian man."
- St. Ambrose
TRUTH
"Every truth, without exception - and whoever may utter it - is from the Holy Ghost."
- St. Thomas Aquinas
TRADITION
"The Holy Ghost bestows the fulness of grace on those who believe righty that they may know how those who are the head of the Church should teach the Tradition and maintain it in all things."
- St. Hippolytus
I have a B.A. in History from California State University San Marcos, and a Masters in History from the University of San Diego. My areas of specialty include the Ancient Middle East, the Greco-Roman World, Medieval Europe, and Ecclesiastical History.
A veteran teacher (20 years) of Catholic children in the Diocese of San Diego, I have taught grades 5 through 12 in the subject areas of Latin, History, and Religion. I am now pleased to offer online courses in these subjects.
Additionally, I taught adult catechism classes for 7 years at St. Mary's Escondido.
In addition to my professional experience and preparation as a teacher and educational consultant, I bring as well to Catholic Homeschooling proceedings a great deal of enthusiasm for the subjects I teach and the desire to instill in my students a love for learning and a deep appreciation for the glorious heritage of our Traditional Catholic Faith.
I am a parishioner at St. Anne Catholic Church in San Diego. I’m drawn to the sublime majesty of the Ancient Roman Rite, for it is a foundation of our historical patrimony as Catholics, and as Fr. Frederick Faber aptly stated, “the Traditional Latin Mass is the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven.”
Catholic Pilgrimages - I enjoy leading groups of adults, high school students and families on pilgrimage to holy sites and shrines of our Catholic Faith throughout Europe. Contact me when you're ready for your next pilgrimage.
Snorkeling is one of my favorite recreational activities where I enjoy frolicking with seal lions, Garabaldi fish, and the leopard sharks of La Jolla Cove in San Diego.
"While I was pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church from 2006-2014 in Escondido, Robert Pickard, after his day ministry of teaching, generously offered faith formation without remuneration out of love for Jesus and the salvation of souls, in order to form people in the faith through the Adult Catechism course.
His sound knowledge, clear unambiguous teaching, and compassionate care for the souls entrusted to him in this ministry brought men and women into the faith, gave them a foundation in truth to build their relationship with Jesus in His Holy Catholic Church, and kept them in the church after the Easter Vigil. Building on this faithful resumé Robert Pickard offers the same knowledge, the same faith, the same care for souls through Bellarmine Studies."
- Fr. Richard Perozich
