Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the pronunciation, vocabulary and basic grammatical structure of ecclesiastical (Medieval) Latin used for centuries by the Roman Catholic Church as Her Sacred Liturgical Language. At the end of this course, students will have learned 125 words, the Latin numbers 1-10, 25 Latin expressions, and the basic grammar forms for Latin nouns and verbs.

Course Description:
Providing a complete and concise review of the material covered in Latin I, this course will introduce more advanced grammatical concepts as the subjunctive mood, purpose and result clauses, and the use of gerunds. Building upon their translation skills acquired in the previous course, students will read and discuss the entirety of Caesar's De Bello Gallico (The Gallic Wars) as well as significant excerpts taken from the works of Livy, Pliny, Virgil, Ovid, and St. Jerome's Vulgate.
Please Note: Completion of this course will fulfill a third year language requirement.
